| DAY 05 After breakfast leave for Ancient City of Anuradhapura – 4th Century BC In Anuradhapura, visit the following, Sacred Bo Tree – the oldest historically authenticated tree in the world grown from the sapling of the Bo Tree under which Lord Buddha attained enlightenment, Ruwanweliseya Dagaba, Thuparama – the fir st Dagaba built enshrining the Collar Bone of the Lord Buddha, lsurumuniya Rock Temple – famous for its sculpture, Samadhi Statue sculptured depicting the meditation posture of the Lord Buddha, Royal Pleasure Garden, Moonstone and the Twin Ponds. | DAY 06 After breakfast leave for Kandy, Capital of the Hill Country and the last Kingdom of Sri Lanka before falling to the British in 1815 AD. En route visit Dambulla Cave Temple – famous for its wall paintings, Statues of Lord Buddha and deities unique among which is a 47ft. Statue of recumbent Lord Buddha. Visit Aluviharaya in Matale where teachings of Lord Buddha were commited to writing for the first time and Nalanda Gedige – unique for its architectural design of its Buddha Image House depicting the Pallawa South Indian Architecture dating back to 8th – 10th century AD Evening visit the most venerated Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. and watch a Cultural Performance by traditional Kandyan Dancers and Drummers Practice Meditation at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic Accommodation: Overnight stay at Kandy |
